Det råder fortfarande delade meningar huruvida PS3-spelarna ska få möjligheten att lira årets Lord of the Rings spel kallat Aragorn’s Quest. Officiella sajten och tidigare pressreleaser säger att liret kommer till PS2, PSP, Wii och DS, men i samband med Sonys utannonsering av PlayStation Move berättade Warner Games att LOTR: Aragorn’s Quest ska använda sig av Move-tekniken. Det blir ganska svårt att ordna med PS2 och PSP, så förhoppningsvis betyder det att vi får se en release till PS3.
Hur som helst har Warner Games bestämt sig för att släcka all eventuell törst av LOTR-franchisen efter ovan nämnda titel, genom att släppa The Lord of the Rings: War in the North. Genren ska denna gång vara ett action-rpg, vars innehåll är ett samarbetsläge för upp till tre personer samtidigt (endast online) där ni tillsammans ska bekämpa Saurons strykor. Den officiella sajten verkar antyda att man väljer att vara människa, dvärg eller alv, men förhoppningsvis blir det fler alternativ i spelet.
I och med min besvikelse med upplevelsen av The Lord of the Rings: Conquest (5/10), så ställer jag mig en smula skeptisk mot Warner Games mjölkande av en intressant licens, men jag har gärna fel. Under maj ska man ge ut fler detaljer om liret, och förhoppningsvis försvinner ens farhågor vid den tidpunkten. Annars får jag väl fortsätta gnälla som vanligt.

Interactive Entertainment announces today that The Lord of the Rings: War in the North, an epic multiplayer action/RPG video game based on the renowned novels by J.R.R. Tolkien, is set to launch on the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and Games for Windows® in 2011.
Developed in association with Middle-earth Enterprises, The Lord of the Rings: War in the North explores both original and familiar narrative elements as Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment holds the rights to develop video games based on both the literary and motion picture content from The Lord of the Rings. Breaking new ground as a mature RPG video game set in Middle-earth, The Lord of the Rings: War in the North advances the RPG paradigm through innovative online, interdependent co-op play for up to three players who form their own Fellowship to fight Sauron’s forces in the North.

In The Lord of the Rings: War in the North, players can become the heroes in the great battle of the North as part of the epic War of the Ring.
